TAC and Polygon Labs Bring EVM Functionality to TON

The TON Application Chain (TAC) and Polygon Labs announced on July 9 that they are introducing Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) functionality to the TON ecosystem. This integration involves using Polygon CDK and the interoperability protocol Agglayer to make EVM-compatible decentralized applications (DApps) available on TAC.

Expanding the TON Ecosystem

This collaboration aims to broaden the range of applications for TON users, including decentralized finance (DeFi), gaming, and identity solutions. TAC’s CEO, Pavel Altukhov, said this partnership enhances the connection between TON and Ethereum ecosystems, potentially increasing DApp integration within Telegram.

With this EVM-compatible integration, Ethereum developers will gain access to Telegram’s vast user base. This access will allow for the implementation of more real-world crypto applications, including DeFi, gaming, and decentralized identity solutions.

TON Network Growth

Messari noted on July 6 that the number of daily active addresses on the TON network had surpassed Ethereum in June. TAC’s founding team includes Curve founder Michael Egerov and the team behind The Open Protocol (TOP), which integrates crypto wallet functionality within Telegram.

The statement describes TAC as a layer-2 network built on TON to bring EVM-based DApps to TON and Telegram users. The TON ecosystem has seen a significant rise in trading activity of new tokens, contributing to its recent success.
