Polkadot is witnessing a surge in activity, evident from its record-breaking number of active addresses on the blockchain. According to ‘Parity Data,’ Polkadot has accumulated over 605,200 active addresses. Notably, Moonbeam, the cross-chain smart contract platform, dominates with around 248,000 active addresses, followed by 191,000 addresses established directly on Polkadot.
Top Players in Polkadot’s Ecosystem
Following behind the aforementioned protocols is ‘Nodle’ with 66,063 active addresses. Following closely are Polkadot’s top parachain protocol Astar and decentralized liquid staking protocol Bifrost with 24,262 and 16,907 active addresses, respectively. Acala and Manta secured the sixth and seventh positions with 15,586 and 14,178 active addresses.
The blockchain protocol expressed its enthusiasm for the growing activity within its ecosystem via X (formerly Twitter). The post highlighted the platform’s commitment to flexibility and resilience, ensuring a better experience for users.
Growing User Base and Transaction Volume
The count of unique accounts holding non-zero balances on Polkadot surpassed 5.59 million by the end of March, showing steady growth from the previous month. However, total transactions on the network remain relatively subdued. In March, the blockchain protocol recorded a total of 11.58 million monthly transactions, slightly higher than April but significantly lower than December 2023.
Polkadot’s native token, DOT, experienced a modest recovery along with other altcoins. Within the past 24 hours, DOT saw a nearly 5% increase and was trading at $9.03. Last month, Electric Capital, a venture capital firm based in Palo Alto, identified DOT as a cryptocurrency to watch in the upcoming cycle.
