El Salvador’s National Bitcoin Office (ONBTC) has started a major training program to educate 80,000 government employees about Bitcoin.
The Central American country, known for its Bitcoin-friendly stance, has rolled out a special program to help public servants learn how to manage and create policies related to Bitcoin. This initiative is part of the country’s ongoing effort to integrate Bitcoin into its economy.
The course, called “Certification in Public Administration 1,” is a 160-hour virtual training program. It is divided into seven modules, each covering different aspects of Bitcoin, including laws, management skills, and its role as legal tender in El Salvador.
El Salvador’s Long-Term Goals for Bitcoin Education
Stacy Herbert, the director of ONBTC, believes that educating civil servants about Bitcoin will have a significant positive impact on the country’s economy. She plans to introduce more educational initiatives in the future, focusing on the long-term success of El Salvador’s Bitcoin and technology policies.
“These education projects are crucial for the long-term success of El Salvador’s Bitcoin and tech policies,” Herbert said.
Higher School of Innovation Leads the Way
The training is being conducted by the Higher School of Innovation in Public Administration (ESIAP), which was launched by President Nayib Bukele in August 2021. According to ONBTC, the curriculum is designed to improve the quality of governance and public administration in El Salvador through Bitcoin education.
