Bitcoin’s daily transactions have hit a new peak, reaching 927,000, breaking the previous record of 724,000. This milestone, reported by Intotheblock, highlights the network’s increasing activity.

The introduction of Runes has sparked a rapid surge in Bitcoin transactions, indicating a growing interest in cryptocurrencies. Since its launch after the halving on April 20, Runes have dominated Bitcoin transactions, accounting for over two-thirds of the total, with more than 2.38 million processed.

On April 23, Runes experienced its highest activity with over 750,000 transactions. However, the following day saw a significant decrease, dropping to 312,000 transactions, raising questions about its sustainability.

Industry experts are divided on whether Runes will provide a sustainable revenue source for Bitcoin miners. While promoted as a more efficient token generation protocol by Ordinals Creator Casey Rodarmor, critics like Nikita Zhavoronkov from Blockchair have raised concerns about the amount of block space Runes transactions occupy, suggesting a deviation from Bitcoin’s original vision.
