Binance Labs Rebrands to YZi Labs, Expands Focus to AI and Biotech

Binance Labs, the technology incubator of Binance, has been rebranded as YZi Labs as part of its strategic expansion into artificial intelligence (AI) and biotechnology investments.

Leadership and Mentorship

The rebranding comes with notable leadership changes. Former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao will play an active role in mentoring startups under the program. Meanwhile, Ella Zhang, a co-founder of Binance Labs, is returning to lead the newly renamed YZi Labs.

The incubator will also revive its 12-week in-person residency program, offering project founders hands-on support to develop their ventures.

In August 2024, Binance Labs announced investments in two AI companies. The first, Sahara AI, focuses on enabling users to retain intellectual property rights through on-chain attribution while earning rewards for contributing to the decentralized AI infrastructure. The second, MyShell, allows users to build and share AI-powered applications.

YZi Labs Biotech Investments

YZi Labs also entered the decentralized science sector in November 2024 by investing in BIO Protocol, an accelerator program aimed at supporting capital formation for biotech innovations.

With its rebranding and broadened focus, YZi Labs is positioning itself at the forefront of emerging technologies, fostering projects that merge AI, blockchain, and biotech to unlock new possibilities.
